All VW® Water cooled 4 cylinder engines used in Golfs, Jettas, Sciroccos, Rabbits, VW Foxes etc., from ‘75-99 are virtually indestructible as our 100,000 mile club testifies. They are all similar. Many of our customers have got 200,000 without taking the head off. If you’ve somehow been unfortunate and burnt up an engine, there is no need to buy a new car, just switch engines.

We sell “complete” engines, including valve cover and oil pan, front to back engine plate and everything in between which we define as an engine complete and ready to bolt into your car with all accessories except no: Distributor, etc., fuel injection, etc., intake or exhaust manifold, clutch etc., alternator, or  power steering pump, etc..

This should allow a junior level shade tree mechanic to pull his old engine, set it down on the garage floor, switch a few parts, and stick it back in with a cherry picker rented from his local rental shop and be on the road Monday morning.  (Don’t forget to order a new oil filter, air filter, and maybe clutch kit. There is never an easier clutch job than when the engine is already out! Check your belts, oil and anti-freeze).

There’s basically no need to ever rebuild a gas 4-cylinder water cooled Rabbit,Golf, Jetta, Scirocco or Cabriolet. In most cases you can purchase a good used engine for less than the cost of repair.

We charge no core charge on the engine, only a core charge on the cylinder head which can be sent back to us by UPS or US mail. It’s easy to remove only a few bolts, postage back to us is usually less than $8.00.
