Clutch disc, pressure plates, and flywheels for all Rabbits, Jettas, Scirocco, and Golfs® are similar except for size. When you determine the size of one you know the size of all three. They are either 190mm (7 5/8"), 200mm (8"), or 210mm (8 3/8") in diameter. The early cars (all to ‘80) used 190mm, all cars from 1981 to 1984 except GTI used 200mm, Golf/ Jetta/ Cabriolet (not Passat) from ‘85-99.5 on and also the ‘83-84 GTI/GLI® use a 210mm.

Rabbit®, Scirocco, and Jetta built in Germany up to 1980 with gas engines (1500 & 1600cc) have a (190mm) clutch assembly. All Diesels thru ‘80.

BOLT & SEAL CLUTCH KIT

If you are replacing the clutch, VW states you must replace(not re-use) all the old bolts. The seals include main shaft seal, push rod seal, main engine seal plus all the bolts. Why risk failure of a $300 clutch job?

If you race, solo, or just drive real hard, you need a high performance pressure plate. There are USA-made racing pressure plates which cost up to $450.

We’ve got the “Sachs Racing Clutch” kits.  VW® sports racing team sponsored racing when price was no object. Some SCCA racers tried them and they said,"Just what we have been trying to get for years.’’ They have a broad surface and multiple bolt holes and will fit all the above applications. Just bolt it up! Slightly higher foot pressure required. This is needed to handle a performance chip or super charger. Will also work on a hard driver diesel or turbo diesel.
