HIGH PERFORMANCE FRONT BRAKES

If you are into racing or have a super-heavy foot, you can install a GTI brake system on any standard Rabbit, Jetta or Golf. If your car had solid disc you can upgrade to GTI type vented discs & GTI pads. The GTI came with vented discs with better pads. The standard Kelsey Hayes calipers will accept GTI-type pads and vented discs without modification. You will end up with the same brakes as on a GTI. Our kit includes two new vented disc brakes, new screws, GTI pads and anti-rattle springs. To upgrade a ‘75-84 Rabbit, Scirocco or Jetta, use kit #1.

EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLES

There are two emergency brake cables on each car. They run separately to each rear wheel from the hand brake. When they freeze up, stretch or break, you don't have an emergency or hand brake. You also put your rear brakes out of adjustment making them ineffective. The regular brake adjustment always "pivots" off the emergency brake lever or the shoe. Fix the cables and you'll get your regular brakes back.

TECH TIP: Lubricate the cables with powdered graphite, it does not collect dust like grease.
