‘79-84 Rabbits, Sciroccos and Jettas have a problem with the window lift channel. This problem is the “u” shaped channel which holds the glass and onto which bolts the window lift mechanism. Buy a lift channel kit, one part number fits any of the doors.

FLYING WINDSHIELDS

We now will custom crate and drop ship a windshield from a supplier to anywhere in the lower USA for a fixed packaging and freight charge. For flat Beetle windshields it’s $40. All others $150 except WA, CA, OR, NV and ID which will be $180. This may sound like a lot but if your glass shop or dealer is quoting $700 for a windshield and we sell it for $ 169, plus freight and you get a mobile glass shop (truck) to install it for $40 in your driveway (what they normally charge anyway), it makes sense to buy a windshield and have it shipped. Note: All claims must be handled by your trucking company and the glass manufacturer. When the truck arrives, don’t sign anything until you open the box and make sure the piece of glass is not broken. If broken, write broken or cracked on the waybill before you sign and keep a copy. We send hundreds of pieces of glass and have breakage in the order of a percent or two. It really works!

All windshields on VW/Audi up to 1982 and some as late as 1988 were held in place with a gasket. In 1983 VW gradually converted to a Glue-in windshield.

You can easily install a windshield by yourself with the help of a friend in 20 minutes.

If you don’t want to do it yourself, most glass shops will install a windshield for $30.00 to $40.00. Considering you can buy a new Jetta windshield $195.00 less than the dealer price, it should be worth your while to spend an hour picking the windshield up from us and taking it to a glass shop.

The Opening Vent Windows on all Rabbit® and Jettas ‘77-84 are a bad design. The glue on the hinge separates from the glass, and the window fall out on the street. We have a few solution for this: For a cheap solution we sell a replacement fixed (non-opening) window kit. It includes frame, rubber and glass.
