[44] If you are doing a major repair job and the heater channels of your Beetle are rusted through, these complete heater channels run from the front wheel to the back wheel and include the  inner heat tube.  These heat channels are a major part of the structural support of the Beetle and if the door sags and does not close properly the problem most likely is the heater channels are rusted and the car is bending in the middle causing the back end of the door to be lower than it should be.  When you are welding in these heat channels, place a long 2 X 4 under the car and bend the car upwards with a jack under the 2 X 4 until the door closes properly, then  tack weld the heater channel  into place. Heater channels for all Beetles and Super Beetles from '50 - 79. State Year, Driver's or Passenger's

[78] New floorboards are available for Beetles, these are heavy gauge metal. The floorboard covers half of the car and goes from in front of the driver's toes all the way back to under the back seat. WARNING: Make sure the seats are adequately anchored to the floor to prevent them from ripping out in an accident.  THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. These floorboards really should be welded into the car; some people install them by brazing or pop rivets, but we do not recommend this.
