Clutch & Flywheel Kit: Jetta, Golf & New Beetle TDI/1.8T 99.5-05 - 228mm Dual Mass Flywheel, Sachs

Item #:22538
Details:VW clutch and flywheel assembly. This is the factory original Sachs dual mass flywheel and clutch setup for the ALH TDI engines. The total package from Sachs includes the 228mm flywheel, a new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and bolt hardware. If your Jetta, Golf, or New Beetle TDI has over 100,000 miles you should be prepared to replace both of these items at the same time. It does not make sense to go through the same labor twice.
Fits:Jetta 1999.5-2005, Golf 1999.5-2006, New Beetle 1999.5-2006. All TDI and 1.8T engines that are upgrading from the 220mm flywheel or replacing a stock 228mm flywheel. 5 speed manual transmissions only.

Do-It-Yourself Tip

The VW TDI clutch and flywheel kit is a replacement for the dual mass flywheel that comes with your Volkswagen. The dual mass flywheels are designed to absorb extra engine vibrations, and soften the feel when the clutch is engaged. If you are most comfortable with staying with the dual mass flywheel there is a cheaper alternative from LUK shown below. There is also an option to move to the single mass flywheel by Sachs. These are popular to switch to because they are much more reliable than the dual mass flywheel, at the cost of some minor increased vibrations in the vehicle.
