Ignition Coil: Jetta, Golf, New Beetle & Passat 98-01 - 1.8T

VW direct ignition coil. The VW 1.8T engines use one ignition coil on each spark plug instead of the old cap and distributor method. This allows for precise ignition timing for various engine conditions. The ignition coils originally had some issues causing misfiring leading to burning out the ignition coils. We carry direct replacement coils to get your 1.8T engine running smooth again. Sold each, 4 required per car.

Do-it-Yourself Tip

If you are replacing your VW 1.8T ignition coil, make sure to inspect the other ignition coils and the wiring harness that they attach to for damage since it can lead to premature failure. Replacement connection harness kits are available are available for order, call for details. The easiest way to find which ignition coil has failed in your VW is to hook up to an ODB code scanner, we have one shown below that connects with your laptop. It will save you money in the long run compared to going to the dealer. You will also need a new spark plug to place in with the new ignition coil.
