VW Bus front wheel cylinder. Front wheel cylinders are the simple hydraulic devices to push the brake shoes against the inside of the drum. They are easy to replace and should be carefully inspected for signs of leakage or corrosion any time you are working on your brakes. The VW Bus has 2 front wheel cylinders. This wheel cylinder is for the driver side upper and passenger side lower. #2292 is the opposite.

If your Bus wheel cylinders have been leaking you should replace the brake drums and shoes at the same time. Brake fluid will coat the braking surfaces and create a glaze that makes the brake drum and shoe ineffective at stopping your VW Bus.
