VW Cold Start Valve. These switches are also known as the "Fifth Injector". Gas Fuel Injected cars need a little extra splash of fuel to get them going when they are cold as they don't have a choke like the older carbureted cars did. If you have a Volkswagen with CIS Injection, and you are having difficulty cold starting, this may be what you need.

Do-it-Yourself Tip

Once you have tested or replaced your VW cold start valve, but it still does not idle well for the first few minutes, check your Auxiliary Air Valve, as this may be contributing to your problem. If you are working on your fuel injected VW, you will want to have a Bentley service manual on hand to assist you - one of the most popular is shown below.
