Refundable Core Charge

If a product you are purchasing has a core charge you will see it in your shopping cart under the product.

A core charge is a little like a bottle deposit. You pay a core charge when you buy a rebuildable product, and get your money back when you return the core.

Cores are the used parts that may be returned when purchasing rebuildable parts. New, used, and remanufactured products may have a core charge. We send cores to our rebuilders to create a remanufactured part. Having a core charge on most rebuildable parts helps us keep our prices low, is a great way to recycle, and ensures there is product available for the next customer. If a core deposit is shown, this charge will be added to your total at the time of sale but is refundable upon the return of your rebuildable original part. Cores are valuable to us; we need them back on a timely basis to be rebuilt so we have product to sell to the next customers. (See core return policy under warranties and return for more info)

If you have any concerns or questions about the core charge or shipping charges, please call us at 586.757.2300.

VW Passat control arm. The VW Passat uses a unique 4 link front suspension design. The links from the factory come with greased joints and bushings that have a tendency to dry out. A tell-tale sign of a failing control arm is to listen to an extra rattle in your front suspension. If you notice that your Passat has picked up the sound then it is time to replace your control arm link with this new upgraded factory replacement. These control arm links are completely re-engineered with new lubricants and build materials to give to provide long life.

Condition: New

Warranty

All products carry a 100 day warranty. Engines, cylinder heads, and injection pumps carry an extended 12 month warranty. See our warranty page for details.

Do-it-Yourself Tip

The Passat control arm is actually made of 4 main links on each side; 8 total in the car. It may be hard to pinpoint exactly which link is failing you, and you will find yourself constantly doing this labor intensive job over and over until you find the right one. If your suspension is very noisy, or your car has plenty of miles it may be best to replace all the links in one shot. The complete kit even comes with new hardware to install in your Passat. Doing the control arm repair is a big job in the VW Passat. The Robert Bentley manual will be priceless during this process; it will have all the torque specs you want, and the instructions to remove the old control arm links.
