Refundable Core Charge

If a product you are purchasing has a core charge you will see it in your shopping cart under the product.

A core charge is a little like a bottle deposit. You pay a core charge when you buy a rebuildable product, and get your money back when you return the core.

Cores are the used parts that may be returned when purchasing rebuildable parts. New, used, and remanufactured products may have a core charge. We send cores to our rebuilders to create a remanufactured part. Having a core charge on most rebuildable parts helps us keep our prices low, is a great way to recycle, and ensures there is product available for the next customer. If a core deposit is shown, this charge will be added to your total at the time of sale but is refundable upon the return of your rebuildable original part. Cores are valuable to us; we need them back on a timely basis to be rebuilt so we have product to sell to the next customers. (See core return policy under warranties and return for more info)

If you have any concerns or questions about the core charge or shipping charges, please call us at 586.757.2300.

Do-it-Yourself Tip

When replacing your VW Karmann Ghia pads check your rotors for pitting and deep scores. This kind of damage will severely reduce the mileage you get on new brake pads. Also if you have noticed a lot of vibration when you hit the brake pedal, you have warped rotors and they should be replaced immediately. Bleeding your brake system is critical to keeping your VW Karmann Ghia stopping on a dime. When you bleed your brakes use ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid to make it easy while bleeding your Karmann Ghia brakes. When the ATE brake fluid comes through the system you will notice the blue color, it lets you know that all the old fluid is gone.
