These listed “Common Parts” fit all Vanagon any year. Other Vanagon parts might differ depending upon the year or type of engine, etc.  Look here for the part you want, if  you don’t fit it - look under the specific application.  If you still can’t find it - call.

   Here's a listing of some of the parts we carry for Vanagons. We don't have everything for Vanagons, but we have 20 times more than anyone else. We can special order the few things we don't carry in stock faster than anyone else. Look at these prices, we are generally 40% to 50% less than dealer new prices and less than that         recycled.  In a few cases, like heat exchangers or a radiator for a Vanagon (dealer price is $570 and ours is only $319.95 for the exact same thing!)  We can save you enough for a bargain basement weekend in the Caribbean!  If you don't see what you need, CALL!  Many other parts fit and are listed elsewhere in this catalog. To save space we have used this condensed format, we hope you can follow it, if not just call.

    We will special order the non-stocked items and can usually deliver non-stock items to your door within a week.  If you really need it tomorrow, we can get 99% of everything by overnight air, if you're willing to pay the extra freight.  Consult salesperson  for details.  Any part number with REC after it is recycled.

Gas Tanks

Vanagon gas tanks are subject to rust out.  Dirt debris, salt collects between the upper part of the tank and the body, rusting out the top of the tank.  Vanagon tanks at the dealer cost over $577.

Manual Transmission

Transmissions are hidden under the Vanagon and out of sight...out of mind, thus they run low on fluid and burn out.  Check for leaks when checking your fluid levels.

Early Vanagons have some trouble with manual transmissions.  We recommend you change your gear oil now.  I know you haven’t done it in 5 years, and do it again every 2 years or 30,000 miles.  Also don’t speed shift, you can’t get there that fast in a Vanagon anyway.  We have good used Vanagon transmissions and factory remanufactured units with up to a 2-year limited warranty.

Automatic Transmission

Automatic transmissions have separate compartments for gear oil and trans fluid, its different stuff.  Again the gear oil and ATF should be changed today and again every two years. Care should be taken before long overloaded camping trips to see fluids are clean and full.
