A low compression reading on a sick diesel tells you something, but it doesn’t tell you everything.  Determine the amount and location of leakage.  Requires adapter below.

ENGINE OIL PRESSURE TESTER

If your oil pressure light comes on, you need to know what your actual oil pressure is.  It could just be a bad sensor, but it could be a bigger problem.  The only way to know is to put a mechanical gauge right on the engine and get a true reading.  Includes adapters to fit most foreign and domestic engines.

All VW Diesels ‘77-’86.5 have mechanical lifters and require periodic valve adjustments.  In order to change the adjustment shims, you’ll need a valve depressor tool and special pliers to grab the shims.  There are two types of valve depressors-1.5 diesels use #SN13682, 1.6 diesels use #SN3505.  All engines use the same pliers #SN13678.  Check your valve clearances before you start hearing the lifters tick and adjust them if they’re out of spec.  It’s a lot cheaper than replacing the head!

INJECTION PUMP LOCKING PIN

This tool has been designed to aid in the changing of the camshaft drive belt. In operation it locks the Bosch diesel injection pump sprocket in position. This allows the drive belt to be removed without the injector loosing its general timing position. If the drive belt has been broken or is missing this tool will locate the general timing position of the pump as called for in the belt installation instructions. This locking pin is made of steel with a precision ground circumference for an accurate fit. For use on VW and Audi diesels.

CAMSHAFT LOCKING PLATE

This tool has been designed to aid in the changing of the camshaft drive belt. In operation it locks the camshaft in the correct position allowing the drive belt to be removed. The later TDI’s (‘98-’03 New Beetle and ‘99.5-’03 Golf/Jetta) require a slightly different looking pin and plate.  These precision-made tools hold the cam and injection pump in place while installing the new belt.  A must for any timing belt replacement!

This tool allows the accurate setting of the injection timing on Bosch diesel injection pumps.  Screw the tool into the back of the pump, then follow the instructions in the Bentley Manual to zero out the gauge.

A must-have tool to correctly tension the timing belt on all diesels which have two holes on the face of the tensioner pulley.  This wrench has two pins which lock into the pulley adjuster, allowing proper adjustment.

REAR CALIPER “RESET” TOOL

VW’s with rear disc brakes(some ‘96-’99.5 TDI’s, all ‘99.5 and later) require a special tool to compress the piston back into the rear calipers.  Do NOT try to force back the piston with a C-clamp, it will damage the adjuster mechanism and you will have to replace the caliper.
