Special TDI Motor Oil
Volkswagen has issued a service bulletin to all of their dealers about the correct motor oil to use in 2004 and up TDI engines. Notice that using the incorrect oil will void your new car warranty. We’ve seen reports of dealers charging $12.25 per quart!! Do the math, an oil change at the dealer is going to lighten your wallet by $80-$100!!
Now there’s an alternative--German Pentosynth TS(blue label) for all ‘04 and later TDI’s and gasoline engines requiring VW 505.00 oil. Be sure to use the correct oil-Pentosynth TS is a full synthetic, while Pentosynth is a semi-synthetic. The Pumpe-Duse TDI’s (‘04 and later) must use a semi-synthetic conforming to VW standard 505.01. All other TDI’s must use a full synthetic conforming to VW standard 505.00. Carry a spare quart in your car, so you don’t end up stranded somewhere if you run low on oil. (We have heard stories of VW denying engine warranty claims after an oil analysis finds even a trace of the wrong oil.)

Condition
The 1.9L TDI engine (Eng, code BEW) requires and must always use special synthetic engine oil that expressly conforms to Volkswagen Oil Standard - 505.01.
Service
The only engine oil which currently meets the standard is
Part No: G 052 167 A2, (a special 5W40 synthetic motor oil).
Part No: G 052 167 A2 is only available at authorized Volkswagen and Audi Dealers.
All scheduled Volkswagen services and topping off of engine oil between services require G 052 167 A2 engine oil only.
No other engine oil may be used in this engine unless it conforms to the Volkswagen Oil Standard - 505.01.
It is recommended that the customer always carry a spare quart/liter of G 052 167 A2 in case the engine oil needs topping off while on the road.
Engine damage caused by using the wrong engine oil will not be covered by the Limited New Vehicle Warranty.

Is it time? People are getting so used to cars running forever with NO(zero) maintenance, some people are giving them zero maintenance. NOT GOOD! Zero maintenance may be good enough for your New Flat screen TV. But believe it or not there is no such thing as a zero maintenance car. Change your filter even if you only do it once a year, make TODAY THE DAY! Change them all today. Your oil filter has to be changed more often than once a year, but your other filters could maybe on average live with once a year. In general here are some rules of thumb:
Oil Filter - At least 2 times a year or at least every 5,000 miles
Oil - Same as above
Air Filter - In city driving or dusty conditions every 5,000 miles or at least once a year and every 10,000 miles
Fuel Filter - Every year or every 10,000 miles
Cabin Air Filter - in dusty conditions or if you regularly drive on a dirt road, every 3 months or normally every 6 months or every 10,000 miles

Volkswagen specifies phosphate/silicate-free antifreeze in all their vehicles. Most national brand antifreeze does not meet VW’s specifications. German Pentosin antifreeze exceeds all of Volkswagen’s requirements and is neutral to metals, rubber parts and sealing materials. Mix 50/50 with distilled water for best results. (This Purple used to be red=purple). For all VWs 1997 to 2007.
