VW Vanagon fuel pressure regulator. The fuel pressure regulator is a vacuum operated diaphragm that controls the fuel pressure in fuel injected vehicles. When the fuel pressure regulator goes bad, the engine will struggle to perform, as there is not enough pressure making it to the injectors.
