VW oil pan baffle. The oil pan baffle is used to prevent oil from sloshing away from the oil pickup tube during cornering. It’s not common for this part to break, but you may want to add one to your car if it was not equipped with one.

While installing your new VW oil pan baffle inspect the inside of your oil pan for rust starting to go through the pan. If you see this replace it before oil starts seeping through your pan, straight to the driveway. Always use a new gasket to install your oil pan. It’s cheap insurance against leaks.
