Removing the VW Passat rear shock is really simple; it only takes a few bolts. Taking the shock assembly apart may not be so easy; so you might want a spring compressor to help you out. When you reinstall your new Bilstein rear shock make sure to use a new lower shock mount bolt. Your old shock mount bolt maybe rusty and hard to remove.
