These control arm links are completely re-engineered with new lubricants and build materials to give to provide long life.
Do-it-Yourself Tip
The Passat control arm is actually made of 4 main links on each side; 8 total in the car. It may be hard to pinpoint exactly which link is failing you, and you will find yourself constantly doing this labor intensive job over and over until you find the right one. If your suspension is very noisy, or your car has plenty of miles it may be best to replace all the links in one shot. The complete kit even comes with new hardware to install in your Passat. Doing the control arm repair is a big job in the VW Passat. The Robert Bentley manual will be priceless during this process; it will have all the torque specs you want, and the instructions to remove the old control arm links.
