Late MK4 Brake Cable

Item #: 20644

Emergency Brake Cable: Jetta 00-05, Golf 00-06, New Beetle 00-08

VW emergency brake cable. Emergency brake cables run from the handbrake lever to each rear brake and are an essential part of the cable operated system that secures your VW New Beetle while parking, or in case your hydraulic system fails. It's best to replace them both at the same time as they deteriorate with use. Sold each, order two of these per vehicle to complete the job.

Do-it-Yourself Tip

The Jetta, Golf, and New Beetle emergency brake cable can be changed on its own, but it still relies on the rest of your rear brakes to be working well. If you can't remember when you last inspected the brake components now is the best time, you will have most of it apart anyway.
