VW gear selector rod . When shifting gears in your Rabbit or Scirocco becomes difficult, the selector rods are usually the culprit. The plastic ends on these wear and crack over time, making them less accurate than when your car was new.

Do-it-Yourself Tip

There are two VW gear selector rods in the shifter assembly. You may want to replace both the long and short rod selector at the same time. You can purchase the selector rods separately below. We also offer a complete kit with all of the parts you need, including the selector rods, to totally rebuild the shifter assembly in your Rabbit, or Scirocco. The shifter alignment tool, shown below, will be needed to get a correct fitment when you rebuild the shifter assembly.
