VW backing plate. The backing plate is mounted to the rear axle assembly on the VW Golf, Jetta, and Corrado. The backing plate not only provides weather protection for your disc brakes. If yours is developing rust or is getting thin and flexible, replace it before the brake hardware on your VW fails. This part is for the driver side only; the passenger side is part #18176.
