Universal Catalytic Converter

Item #: 1431

Catalytic Converter: Universal - Most Gas Engines Prior To 1990

VW catalytic converter. Catalytic converters clean the exhaust gasses using heat and a chemical reaction. If the engine stays in tune, they function worry free for a very long time. If you have kept driving a poor running car, just to make it a "few more miles" the converter can plug up and damage other parts. If it rusts through or becomes blocked, it's time to replace it. This is an original equipment quality 48-state legal converter without the oxygen sensor hole. **EPA Federal Compliant - Not Legal for sale or use in California. Legal in New York and Maine on EPA Federal Emission Equipped Vehicles only.

Do-it-Yourself Tip

Chances are good that if you are replacing your converter, then your oxygen sensor is not responding as quickly as it should either and could lead to damage in your new converter. Changing both at the same time makes the job easier than going back to change the sensor later.
