(10)- Water Pumps
The Volkswagen water pump lasts a long time. Don't over tighten the alternator belt as the added tension creates a burden on the water pump's bearings.
If water is dripping out the hole in the bottom of the pump, it is bad. Replace the pump. No rebuild kits are available for water pumps.

Belts don't last forever. Every 60,000 or so(or whenever you buy a used car and don't know it's maintenance history)or when one of your Belts is about to go.
