VW 1.8T camshaft tensioner. This camshaft tensioner is mounted to the top of the 1.8T cylinder head. It keeps tension on the chain that keeps both camshafts in time. Over time this tensioner cannot keep the chain taught and your will hear the chains slap around in the cylinder head. When you hear this sound replace the cam chain tensioner as soon as possible before you run into major issues.
