Alternator Pulley: Jetta, Golf, New Beetle & Others 98-13 - 5 Groove

VW alternator pulley. This pulley is an automatically engaging pulley designed for late model Volkswagens. Freewheel pulleys are designed to reduce strain on belts and the alternator during engine slow down. If your pulley locks up and does not freewheel, you need to replace it with this original equipment quality part. This kit includes a 5 groove freewheel pulley and cover cap.

Do-it-Yourself Tip

You may not find that you need a new VW alternator pulley until you are installing a new alternator in your Volkswagen. It's best to replace your belt when you replace the pulley. Without this pulley operating properly your serpentine belt has been taking on more load than it was designed to handle.
