VW relay shaft. This part is the actual lever which pushes the gear selector on manual transmissions. If you're having difficulty getting your car into gear, this may be your problem. The ball can wear out because it's hard plastic and the shaft itself can show signs of wear on high mileage cars. Inspect yours, replace it if you see signs of wear.

Along with the VW relay shaft, shifting issues may be caused by the main shifter rod bushing and the smaller shifter bushings for wear. We sell both the main shift rod bushing and the shifter rebuild kit to repair your weak shifting assembly.
