MASTER CYLINDERS
Master cylinders are different depending on whether or not the car has power brakes. Almost all cars from 1980 on have Power Brakes. If it has power brakes it is identified as with Power Brakes (W/PB) or without power brakes (W/O PB). All cars built after 1984 have power brakes.

TECH TIP: ABS is only on a few VWs before 1992. After 1998 is becomes almost universal. If the ABS fails in your car, the brakes revert to the normal mode and will still work.
