Cup Holder
The cup holder used in ‘98-01.5 Passat is super-flimsy, and breaks a lot (sorry, we didn’t design the the thing). The design was changed completely in mid-2001, but unfortunately you’d have to change the entire center console over to use the new design. We have new replacements available.

VW specifies a special synthetic transmission fluid for use in all of their later model automatic transmissions. You cannot use regular ATF--you will ruin the transmission! A refill should require 2.6-3.0 liters per the Bentley Manual.

Heater Control
The heater control has small plastic gears in it. The gear teeth can chip or break, making it impossible to adjust the temperature or vents, or the fan switch may fail-and if it does, you have to replace the whole heater control.
